Former TVNZ presenter Susan Wood has a new job - manager of the Takapuna Beach Business Association on Monday.
The Auckland association's members admit they were shocked when they heard Wood was available for the position.
Chairman Kevin Schwass said he was "flabbergasted".
"Having a high profile will open doors that mere mortals like myself wouldn't be able to."
Wood left TVNZ last year after a health scare. She was with TVNZ 21 years, most recently as the host of TV1's weeknight Close Up programme.
Mr Schwass said Wood has a masters in business administration and strong roots in Takapuna and the North Shore.
