Frustration's boiled over in a meeting between students at Auckland's BEST Pacific Institute of Education and the Tertiary Education Commission.

Some where hugging their tutors, others were unable to speak.

One says her fellow students have become like a family and doesn't know where she'll go next.

Students feel the alternative courses being offered at other institutes are not compatible with their current studies.

Shareholders of Best Pacific Institute of Education - which served students in west and south Auckland - appointed liquidators after determining it could no longer trade.

All courses were suspended and liquidators William Black and Conor McElhinney of McGrathNicol last week said they would be working closely with the company directors, the Tertiary Education Commission and New Zealand Qualifications Authority "to ensure the smooth transition of all students to new education providers within the next few weeks".
