Health insurance provider Southern Cross is moving into pet insurance.
The company has announced it's purchased the policies of Christchurch-based Ellenco Pet Insurance.
Southern Cross Benefits Limited CEO Craig Morrison says they want to touch base with as many New Zealanders as possible.
"We thought this would be a great product extension to the range of products that both the society and the trust offer to New Zealanders."
Mr Morrison says a survey of customers indicated there was strong interest for pet insurance.
