Concerns have been raised about Sony BMG Music Entertainment's use of digital rights management (DRM) technology, which is designed to prevent piracy.
Some users say the software behaves like spyware and may also create computer security vulnerabilities.
Software developer and computer security expert Mark Russinovich posted a blog saying Sony's DRM used resources from his computer processor even when not playing a CD, was difficult to locate and uninstall, and after uninstalling the software his computer's CD player stopped working.
