A waterfront bach in one of Auckland's most exclusive streets with panoramic views over the Waitemata Harbour has sold for under its almost $2 million valuation.
The two-bedroom home on Cliff Rd in St Heliers was on the market for the first time in more than 30 years. It is one of the last 60s-style homes on the road, which is dominated by mansions owned by some of Auckland's richest residents.
Days after tenders opened, the vendor received three offers above the capital value of $1.99m. Barfoot & Thompson agent Bob Gordon said the home sold for "just a whisker" under the valuation and the winning tender is due to settle this month.
Although the house has a fantastic view, Gordon said it probably sold for below the CV because it is in its original condition.
