Software of Excellence raises forecast

Dental software company Software of Excellence is on track to beat earlier profit forecasts for the six months to September 30.

It said it should produce a net profit of between $1.8 million and $2 million on revenue of more than $14.2 million.

The improved performance was driven by sales volumes in the UK operations, which generate nearly 85 per cent of revenue, and the continued weakness of the dollar against the pound.

The recently acquired Oasis Software business, in Australia, continued to exceed the earnings milestones and local costs were down.

The company is based in Auckland with wholly-owned subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia.

It currently has 100 staff, of whom 45 are based in New Zealand. As an early innovator of dental software, the company has worked closely with the dental profession to pioneer many applications of computers in dentistry; for example - PC based digital x-rays and dental imaging.

In 1992 the company won awards from Microsoft and Computer World for "Best Commercial Windows Application."
