SFO probes alleged $1.4m fraud

An Auckland man has been charged with an alleged $1.4 million fraud at a security equipment supply firm.

Martyn Tewsley Scott, 51, from Meadowbank, appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday facing seven counts of accessing a computer system for a dishonest purpose.

He was remanded on bail without plea to reappear on October 21.

The Serious Fraud Office alleges Scott redirected invoice payments due to suppliers to bank accounts under his control while he was general manager of National Fire and Security Limited.

He allegedly varied the method to divert payments due to genuine suppliers or would create false supplier invoices to substantiate payments covertly paid to his bank account, the SFO said.
