The New Zealand economy has narrowly avoided a sixth straight quarter of contraction, but only by the skin of its teeth.
It grew less than 0.1 per cent in the June quarter according to gross domestic production figures released today, following five quarters of contraction.
However, Statistics New Zealand warned the growth was so small it could not be seen as a sign of economic recovery.
