A major survey is underway to gauge the potential impact of the Rugby World Cup on privately-owned businesses in New Zealand.
The ANZ privately-owned business barometer will canvas private businesses with annual turnover of between $5 million and $150 million about their views on economic activity and plans for growth ahead of the cup.
"Rugby World Cup 2011 is the biggest event to come to New Zealand ... we want to contribute to the understanding of the likely economic and business impacts in the lead-up to the tournament," ANZ New Zealand's managing director of commercial and agri Graham Turley said.
Turley said he expected the barometer would also give valuable insights into how the privately owned business sector was recovering from the recession and how the Christchurch earthquake might have affected its outlook.
The survey closes this Friday, with the results due out in June.
