MUNICH - An executive board member of German industrial conglomerate Siemens has been arrested in connection with a bribery probe, the company said today.
The Nuremberg Justice Ministry said Johannes Feldmayer was arrested on charges of breach of trust.
Siemens said company premises in the German cities of Nuremberg, Munich and Erlangen had been raided, and that it was supporting further investigations.
Feldmayer, 50, joined Siemens in 1979 and has been a member of the board since 2003.
He is responsible for the company's IT services unit as well as its building-technology unit among other things.
German prosecutors are investigating suspected bribery at Siemens.
The prosecutors suspect hundreds of millions of euros were siphoned off from Siemens accounts and used to pay bribes to win contracts.
