Samsung Electronics, the world's largest television maker, says it is close to an agreement to introduce a television using Google's software that will offer wider choice for customers looking for web-connected sets.
Samsung was in "a late stage" of discussions with Google and hadn't decided when it would unveil the product, said Yoon Boo Keun, head of the South Korea-based company's TV business.
Samsung aimed to sell 12 million web-connected "Smart TVs" this year and would focus on marketing such products in 2012.
Its television business would probably remain profitable this year.
The company had almost met its annual target to sell 45 million flat-screen TVs,
