Three senior directors of Saatchi & Saatchi, including Aucklander Kevin Roberts, will be handed bonuses running into millions as a result of a 1.2 billion pound ($3.96 billion) takeover of the advertising agency by Publicis.
The Saatchi board forced its founder, Lord Saatchi, to resign five years ago after a row about how much he was paid.
Chief executive Mr Roberts receives a bonus of $US1.96 million ($4.26 million) as compensation. This is equal to a year's salary, bonus and benefits.
Yet he is staying with Publicis.
Indeed, he will be paid $US900,000 a year and an expected bonus of the same amount. He also receives pension payments worth about $US150,000 a year and options.
When Publicis takes control of Saatchi, Mr Roberts will be able to exercise his share options in the latter, for a profit of about $US6.6 million at present prices.
Chairman Bob Seelert and finance director Bill Cochrane will receive lesser amounts.
