KEY POINTS:
Apple computer distributor Renaissance Corporation is to buy private tertiary educator Natcoll for $6 million.
Renaissance chief executive Paul Johnston said payment for Natcoll, which runs creative digital design technology courses, would include $1 million in Renaissance shares.
The purchase was "an ideal acquisition" because it provided diversification in education and the creative industry, areas in which Renaissance already had strong ties.
Johnston said there was opportunity for solid growth in Natcoll here and overseas.
It has three campuses, in Auckland and Wellington and Christchurch.
Shares in Renaissance closed up 3c at 96c yesterday.
