Fisher and Paykel chief executive Gary Paykel heads the list of those acknowledged in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to New Zealand commerce.
Mr Paykel, of Orakei, has been made a companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his work for manufacturing and the community.
He joined the company in 1960 and since 1987 has presided over its development as the country's main manufacturer and distributor of home appliances.
The other business leader in the honours list is Robert Field, managing director of Toyota New Zealand, who has been made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
Mr Field was head of the local motor assembly industry while it went through a difficult time of restructuring, serving as president of the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association from 1990 to 1996 and then of the Motor Industry Association, which succeeded it, for three years.
