SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) Puerto Rico's governor says the U.S. territory's main international airport is being expanded, in part to benefit passengers aboard private jets and chartered flights.
Alejandro Garcia Padilla says a new terminal and hangar will be able to accommodate an increase in such passengers. There will also be an exclusive customs and immigration checkpoint for those aboard private jets.
Garcia said late Monday that the roughly $11 million investment includes the opening of several new restaurants at the Luis Munoz Marin international airport.
The announcement comes months after the government signed a 40-year contract with Aerostar Airport Holdings to privatize airport operations.
