WELLINGTON - Red paint was daubed on the door of the Indonesian Embassy in Wellington last night, and the word "out" spray-painted four times in red on the building's white columns.
Inspector Janette Smidt of Wellington police said the police were called just after 8 pm. Diplomatic protection squad and embassy staff were investigating the graffiti attack but there was "nothing to report at this stage."
Sergeant Colin Rudd of the diplomatic protection squad said outside the embassy that "inquiries were continuing."
He said police knew how many protesters there had been but he would not give a number.
The embassy had a security camera pointed at the damaged door, but Sergeant Rudd would not say if the protesters could be identified from the videotape. - NZPA
