WARSAW, Poland (AP) Poland's economy grew 0.6 percent in the third quarter from the previous three-month period, mainly thanks to domestic demand and investment, government statistical office said Friday.
The Main Statistical Office said that the economy was 1.9 percent larger than it was at the same time last year.
The figures were better than expected and prompted analysts to forecast annual growth in the last quarter this year of 2 percent.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said growth of 1.5 percent for all of 2013 would be a "dream result," while Finance Minister Mateusz Szczurek says the growth rate should rise to 3 percent in 2014.
The statistics office attributed the growth to rising domestic and foreign demand as well as to higher investment. Domestic demand grew by 0.5 percent, the first expansion since early 2012.
