New Zealand technology company Phitek is presenting a new range of its noise reduction technology at the big consumer electronic show in Las Vegas this week.
Phitek is the global leader in providing noise cancellation products for the airline industry, with headphones that block out background noises while airline passengers listen to music or movies.
Over the past year Phitek has also made inroads into the consumer electronics market.
Phitek chief executive Mark Donaldson said the private company would present new technology for use in stereo earphones at the trade show.
"Like many of Phitek's audio technologies, we believe that our latest earphone technology will revolutionise portable listening from mp3 devices through to mobile phones," he said.
He said leading consumer brands had already expressed interest in Phitek's new technology.
In November Phitek announced a strategic partnership with Renesas Technology of Japan, which is a joint venture between Hitachi and Mitsubishi Semiconductors.
The deal was part of Phitek's long-term strategy to push all of its electronic platforms on to a chip format.
Also in November, Phitek placed $6 million worth of shares with TMT Ventures and K One W One, the venture capital vehicle of The Warehouse founder Stephen Tindall.
Donaldson declined to disclose the percentage of Phitek secured by TMT.
The new capital would be used to fund expansion.
