KEY POINTS:
The Government collected $42.4 billion in tax receipts for the nine months ended March 31, 1.1 per cent above forecast, according to Treasury data released today.
The data showed direct tax of $28.1 billion was 1.5 per cent above forecast, while total indirect tax of $14.3 billion was 0.3 per cent above forecast.
Total tax receipts were 5.3 per cent ahead of the same period a year earlier.
Tax revenue, a measure of tax paid and tax due for the period, was put at $42.1 billion, up 0.5 per cent on forecast.
