The Business Roundtable has named Sunday as tax freedom day - the day in the year when the average New Zealander stops working for the Government and starts working for him or her self.
Executive director Roger Kerr said the calculation - which falls two days later than last year - was based on central Government core expenditure, which it gave as 31 per cent of gross domestic product.
