Wine exporters will soon qualify for the same perks as their counterparts across the Tasman.
Earlier this year Australia made provisions for an extension of its Wine Equalisation Tax rebate to include New Zealand winegrowers.
It followed strong representations from the New Zealand Government, which was concerned the rebate would be detrimental to New Zealand wine makers.
Legislation has been tabled which paves the way for New Zealand exporters to apply for a rebate of up to $315,000 a year.
Revenue Minister Michael Cullen says the rebate will put exporters on par with Australian growers.
