Lloyd's of London has reported a 28 per cent drop in annual profit as claims for hurricane damage in the US and the settlement of a dispute with reinsurers relating to the September 11 terror attacks ate into earnings. It said pretax profit was 1.36 billion in 2004, the "worst-ever year for industry losses from natural catastrophes.
