IRD cases won't hit ratings

The ratings of Australian banks will not be affected by the costs they face from unfavourable tax judgments in New Zealand, Moody's Investor Services said.

Last week the High Court in Auckland found in favour of the IRD in a case against Westpac. Bank of New Zealand is appealing a judgment against it in the High Court in Wellington. Judgments are pending on ANZ and ASB.
