The New Zealand Super Fund returned 1.61 per cent in January, down from 4.42 per cent in December.
It said the main factor influencing January's return was a modest gain in global equity investments.
For the financial year to date, it returned 18.96 per cent, while its annualised return since inception is 7.55 per cent.
The fund has $18.47 billion invested.
