The ripple effect of the collapse of finance company Provincial Finance is being felt throughout the community.
The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra has announced it has had to cancel two concerts scheduled for August 25 and September 2, due to the loss of sponsorship.
A Canterbury University professorship may also have to be withdrawn.
Orchestra chief executive Murray Shaw said the loss of the series sponsor was a great blow.
Provincial Finance was placed in receivership in May, leaving 14,000 investors out of pocket.
