Herbert has big plans for Pine Harbour

Interests associated with marina investor and developer Simon Herbert have bought Auckland's Pine Harbour Marina for $22 million.

Herbert, the managing director of Empire Capital Group, announced the deal.

"We have now purchased and settled last week the $22 million purchase of the 570-berth Pine Harbour Marina in Beachlands and some 9ha of associated land zoned for intensive development," he said.

Herbert hit the headlines last year when he showed off big plans for his Bayswater Marina Village, seeking to turn a 3.34ha reclaimed site into 100 terraced houses and 20 smaller apartments, all above shops and cafes.

Big plans have also been hatched for Pine Harbour.

"Destined to become so much more than a marina, Pine Harbour is Auckland's most exciting new development offering a selection of living places, working spaces and recreational facilities. Pine Harbour offers a truly exceptional place to live, work and play," its website says.

Ferries run between Pine Harbour and Auckland city, taking about 35 minutes.

Herbert and his wife Paula are also A-list socialites, who are selling their Remuera house with a prospective price tag of about $20 million.

Graham Wall has listed their property, which was previously owned by David Richwhite and John Sanders.
