ING New Zealand has appointed Marc Lieberman to replace outgoing managing director Paul Fyfe who is retiring next year after a decade in the job.
ING said Mr Lieberman, who is currently head of strategic distribution with ING Life in Minneapolis, was appointed following an internal global search.
He and his family are due to arrive in New Zealand early next year.
Mr Fyfe will leave ING at the end of February 2006. He joined ING in 1989 when it was first established in New Zealand as Armstrong Jones.
ING NZ specialises in investment, superannuation and insurance, and employs 250 staff at offices in Auckland, Albany, Wellington and Christchurch.
The company recently announced it is extending a joint venture with ANZ by incorporating the managed funds and life insurance business of The National Bank.
