Charities throughout New Zealand were last night standing behind besieged South Canterbury Finance boss Allan Hubbard.
Parents Inc, which has been working with Mr Hubbard for three years, says his donations have been vital to the service it provides.
CEO Bruce Pilbrow said charitable donations from Mr Hubbard had aided hundreds of people, and helped the organisation provide a better service to parents.
"Since he's done that, we've probably helped 1500 parents in the last two years," said Mr Pilbrow.
"We're in an environment where a lot of these big corporations walk away from their responsibility - Allan doesn't. He's doing his absolute best to turn the situation around to make a positive solution for everybody.
"What he's done for New Zealand charities, the guy should be a knight, I hope he's honoured in the way he deserves."
Child Cancer Foundation spokeswoman Megan Horsburgh said Mr Hubbard had supported the organisation for several years.
"They've been wonderful supporters and have allowed us to continue providing the support for children and families. The money's gone directly towards that."
