A two-day symposium at the University of Auckland next month aims to explore the emerging trends in corporate governance.
Senior commercial law lecturer P.M. Vasudev said the recent credit crisis and its impact on the general economy could be attributed, in part, to the governance practices of major corporations.
He said the crisis could result in "fundamental changes in the way ... we view the role of the corporation in a society".
In a panel on April 9, national and international scholars will discuss the potential directions for the laws surrounding directors' liability in the wake of the crises.
