Panama plans for healthier canal

Panama plans to extend its health controls on canal traffic in line with heavier use of the waterway and its long-awaited expansion, a Government official says.

Under new regulations, ships will have to present a detailed report of cargo and crew at least four days before entering the canal as well as a health certificate from their countries of origin.
