New Zealand businesses are leading their Australian counterparts when it comes to using the internet, a new survey has shown.
The survey of 506 small, medium and large businesses was made public yesterday by the Minister for Information Technology and Communications, Paul Swain.
Mr Swain said the survey showed that more than two-thirds of New Zealand firms used the internet, compared to just over half in Australia.
More New Zealand firms held a domain name than Australian firms, and fewer New Zealand businesses did not use a computer.
The survey was commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Development and conducted by BRC Marketing and Social Research.
The results were compared with corresponding figures from an earlier survey by the Australian National Office for the Information Economy.
