Upmarket grocery chain Nosh Food Market has formed a partnership with Britain's Waitrose to expand its catalogue and increase its market share.
Nosh director Clinton Beuvink said the partnership signalled the company's intention to increase its share of the New Zealand grocery market, which is dominated by Foodstuffs and Woolworths, to 5 per cent.
Up to 100 Waitrose-branded products will be on Nosh shelves by Christmas, Beuvink said in a statement today.
Nosh has six stores - Glen Innes, Greenlane, Mt Eden, Ponsonby, Matakana and Hamilton. Waitrose has 262 upmarket grocery stores in the United Kingdom and Dubai.
"This experience will provide Nosh with insights into best practices and logistics which we will apply as we continue to expand our own footprint and increase our share of the grocery market to our target of 5 per cent,'' Beuvink said.
