Alastair Carruthers, with an extensive business and arts career, has been made a companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
He is national law firm Kensington Swan's chief executive and was Chapman Tripp's chief executive for 13 years.
He was chairman of Creative New Zealand from 2007 until March 31 this year. He is a board member of the Royal New Zealand Ballet and was a producer of Romeo and Juliet: A Love Song, which premiered in the New Zealand film festival in July.
