KEY POINTS:
Grant Liddell has been appointed director of the soon-to-be-defunct Serious Fraud Office.
A spokesman for the State Services Commission said Mr Liddell's appointment was for a fixed term, which he would not disclose, or until the SFO was disestablished. He will succeed David Bradshaw, who is retiring after 10 years as SFO director.
The Government is establishing a new Organised Crime Agency, which would absorb the SFO Office, to fight organised crime at home and in the Pacific.
