New Zealand new car registrations totalled 7498 in September, up from 7197 in August, and 7 per cent higher than a year ago, the Land Transport Safety Authority said today.
Used car registrations -- generally imported used cars -- totalled 12,318 last month, 2.7 per cent lower than a year ago, the government agency said.
New commercial vehicle registrations during the month were 2210, down nearly 6 per cent on a month earlier, but up 3.4 per cent on September 2004.
The top selling make for the month was Toyota with 1210 new cars, followed by Ford with 919 new cars.
