KEY POINTS:
New car registrations totalled 5429 in July, down 19.6 per cent from the previous month and 14.9 per cent lower from a year ago, Land Transport New Zealand said today.
Used car registrations - generally imported used cars - totalled 7289 last month, 34.2 per cent below a year ago, the government agency said in a statement.
New commercial vehicle registrations during the month were 2004, down from the 2823 recorded a month earlier, and down 17.5 per cent on July 2007.
The top selling make in July was Toyota with 955 new cars, followed by Ford with 635 new cars.
