KEY POINTS:
New car registrations totalled 5468 in December compared with 6286 in the previous month, a fall of 13 per cent and down 5 per cent from a year earlier, Land Transport New Zealand said today.
Used car registrations -- generally imported used cars -- totalled 9448 last month, 24 per cent below a year ago, the government agency said in a statement.
New commercial vehicle registrations during the month were 1543 down from the 1808 recorded a month earlier, but up 0.4 per cent on December 2005.
The top selling make for the month was Toyota with 1462 new cars, followed by Holden with 699 new cars.
