KEY POINTS:
Business with a Pacific Island influence will be celebrated this June at a gala night in Manukau with the theme "Pacific Impact: Transforming the World".
Chief executive of the awards trust, Paul Muller, said the 14 years that the awards have been running have seen Pacific people succeed exponentially in sports, music, arts and the media - and business is the next phase.
"NZ's economy is based on small to medium business enterprises and a lot of that is Pacific owned," says Mr Muller. "It's important that we're able to show we're contributing to this economy.
"The Pacific Business Trust works with a large number of businesses, and these awards are about telling people about the positive impact they're having on New Zealand's economy."
In association with the Manukau Institute of Technology, the MIT Pacific Business Awards will be held on Friday 15 June at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau City.
This year's MCs will be ONE News Pacific Affairs Reporter, Barbara Dreaver, and senior Pacific business consultant, Fa'amatuainu Tino Pereira.
More than 800 people are expected to attend the awards.
Later, the intention is that the business awards production will be transformed into a traveling roadshow which will tour the country.
