ASX chief Tony d'Aloisio yesterday denied the the civil penalty handed down to disgraced businessman Steve Vizard sent the wrong message to the public.
D'Aloisio said people had to be careful with opinion and fact after officials decided Vizard could not face criminal charges.
He was fined A$390,000 last week for fiduciary breaches.
