Microsoft has reported a profit of US$10 billion ($17.4 billion) for the year to June 30, up 28 per cent on the previous year's profit of US$7.8 billion.
Revenue was US$32.2 billion, up from US$28.4 billion last year.
Fourth-quarter profit rose 26 per cent and the company raised its outlook for the coming year but doused shareholders' hopes that it would issue a dividend soon.
For the April-June quarter, the company earned US$1.92 billion compared with US$1.53 billion for the same period a year ago.
Revenue rose 11 per cent to US$8.07 billion.
