A Microsoft employee travelling to speak at New Zealand's largest information technology conference died on the way to the event after suffering a mid-flight heart attack.
Microsoft exchange expert Andrew Ehrensing was scheduled to speak at the company's TechEd conference, which begins in Auckland tomorrow.
However, Microsoft NZ just issued a statement saying it is understood that Ehrensing, who had worked with at the tech giant since 2005, had a heart attack while on flight from the US and passed away before the plane landed in Sydney.
"Our hearts and thoughts are with Andrew's family and our Microsoft colleagues at this time. The Microsoft community is deeply saddened by his tragic passing and will remember his enormous contribution to our company and our people over the coming days, " said Paul Muckleston, managing director of Microsoft NZ.
