Australia's Nine Network chief executive Eddie McGuire says the business has been challenged by its opponents but is about to restore itself to its former glory.
Mr McGuire says it is important for all organisations to rebuild themselves if they are to stay at the top.
The former host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire said despite the recent axeing of 100 jobs in Sydney and Melbourne, the network still has a healthy budget - he estimates around $20 million a year more than its opponents.
But he admits the Nine Network has slipped in recent times.
"We've been challenged and I don't know, we should ask Peter Meakin - he was running the place when it started to go down," he said.
"And he's over at Seven these days. I think maybe the eye was taken off the ball over the last five years."
Mr McGuire says the way forward will include a more aggressive approach and a hunger for exclusives.
"I can tell you that's going to be the way it's going to be at Channel Nine going forward again," he said.
"We're going to break stories and be relevant, not just sort of covering what might have happened on during the course of the day or rewriting what was in the paper this morning.
"We're going to be out there and aggressive."
