Listed retirement specialist Metlifecare has been given the green light to develop a big new village at Glenfield, expanding its North Shore presence.
Alan Edwards, managing director, announced the company had resource consent from Auckland Council to build a $40 million village at 123 Stanley Rd, developing 96 apartments and a 36-bed hospital.
This will be not far from The Poynton, Metlifecare's multi-storey village at Milford where further units are being developed alongside North Shore Hospital.
In a statement released to the NZX this morning, Edwards said development of the Glenfield village would start this year and a heritage-listed house on the site would be refurbished.
That will become the Cox House Cafe and will be open to the public, Edwards said.
