KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand dollar rose to a two-week high against the greenback as the US currency tumbled to a record low against the euro and a 12-year low against the yen.
But the kiwi lost half a cent on the Australian dollar which was bolstered by heroic jobs data that suggested another rate rise could be on the cards across the Tasman. The kiwi closed near its opening level at US80.65c, having peaked overnight near US80.90c after being at US80.35c at 5pm on Wednesday.
Against the Australian dollar, it fell to A85.80c compared with A86.35c on Wednesday.
