The New Zealand dollar has dropped below US75c against the greenback for the first time since mid-June.
With international investors running from risk amid tumult on world markets, the kiwi had a short, sharp drop of around a third of a cent in late morning trading, taking it to the US74.75c area. At 8am the kiwi had been near US75.30c.
The kiwi is also closing in on the A88c level against the Australian dollar for the first time in two months. Shortly before noon it was buying around A88.10c, having been around A88.50c at 8am today.
