KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand dollar crept up towards US60c this morning, after firming against most major currencies overnight.
The kiwi was buying US59.57c around 8am, compared with US58.79c at 5pm yesterday, and continued to edge upwards. Its overnight low was US58.15c.
The kiwi this morning was also up against the aussie to A82.42c (from A82.15c at 5pm), euro at 0.4419 (0.4322) and yen at 55.81 (54.73), but down against sterling at 39.99p (40.08p).
The trade weighted index rose to 58.35 (57.53).
Reuters reported that the US dollar pared gains against the euro this morning after minutes from the Federal Reserve's most recent policy meeting suggested the central bank is concerned about the weak outlook for the US economy and that downside risks remain substantial.
