The Australian dollar rose to 77.76USc, its highest in five weeks, after the Government forecast commodity export earnings will increase.
The Australian dollar appreciated 2.2 per cent last week as metals surged, led by copper at a 16-year high. Gains in the Australian dollar were capped by weakness in the euro against the US currency after European Union leaders failed to agree on a budget last week.
