World sugar prices are set to recover by next year as an anticipated surge in demand for ethanol will likely offset sharp rises in production, reducing surplus availability, industry officials said today.
After a sharp price fall to 9 US cents a pound, from 19 cents in early 2006, analysts believe the market is nearing an upturn, even though India intends to export more sugar next year.
