Petrol prices are at their highest in two years.
After a four cent increase at the start of December, 91 octane is now $1.89/litre and diesel $1.29/litre.
According to Radio New Zealand, motorists were paying 20 cents less for a litre of 91 octane in December 2009.
Automobile Association spokesperson Mark Stockdale told Radio New Zealand that domestic tax increases, New Zealand's weakening dollar and the stockpiling of fuel for the European winter is pushing up the retail price of patrol.
