It will be hit and miss for anyone planning to spend the morning at their local market today.
The Labour Department says markets are not exempt from the Easter trading laws, meaning stall-holders could be hit with $1,000 fines.
But some markets are going ahead, saying they have been told before it is okay for them to trade.
Clevedon and Hamilton markets have been cancelled after warning calls from the department. The organiser of the Pokeno Market says the paddock gate is open, but he is not officially involved.
